1 Dead, Teen Arrested After Shooting Outside Malibu Jacks in North Richland Hills

Authorities in North Richland Hills, Texas, are investigating a fatal shooting that left one woman dead and another man injured outside Malibu Jacks early Sunday morning.

Police said they were called shortly after midnight to the 8600 block of Airport Freeway, where they discovered a 21-year-old woman who had been fatally shot. She was later identified by the Tarrant County Medical Examiner as DaShayla Jones. A 23-year-old man was also wounded but is expected to recover after being transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

According to investigators, an altercation between several individuals preceded the gunfire. Detectives confirmed they had recovered a firearm believed to have been used in the incident.

Three 18-year-old men were detained at the scene. Police later clarified that two of the teens were not directly connected to the murder. The third, from Fort Worth, was arrested in connection with the shooting and is expected to appear before a judge on Monday.

Officials added that two off-duty officers on-site engaged the suspects by returning fire and immediately rendered medical aid to the injured male victim until paramedics arrived.

Authorities have not released the names of the suspects as the investigation continues.

North Richland Hills police say they are working to determine what led up to the violence and are urging anyone with additional information to come forward.
