UPDATE: Missing 6-Year-Old Vernon Parish Child Found Safe

Vernon Parish, LA— The Louisiana State Police have canceled the Level II Endangered/Missing Child Advisory issued earlier today for 6-year-old Landen Stephens of Pitkin.

Authorities confirmed late Saturday that Landen has been located and is safe. The Vernon Parish Sheriff’s Office expressed gratitude to the public and local agencies for their assistance during the search.

The advisory was first issued after Landen was reported missing from his home on Ernest Thompson Road around 9:30 p.m. on Friday, September 12. State Police received the request to issue the alert just before 3 p.m. Saturday.

Landen had last been seen wearing black and gray shorts without a shirt. Officials described him as a white male, about 3 feet tall, weighing 70 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes.

Authorities are asking media outlets and members of the public to remove any photos of Landen now that he has been safely located.

The Vernon Parish Sheriff’s Office will handle any further inquiries regarding this case.
