Suspect Tyler Robinson Confessed Online Before Surrendering in Charlie Kirk Shooting
Utah authorities are investigating the online activity of 22-year-old Tyler Robinson, who allegedly confessed in a Discord chat to the killing of conservative activist Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University.
According to sources familiar with the conversation and screenshots obtained by investigators, Robinson’s account posted a message on Thursday evening stating, “Hey guys, I have bad news for you all. It was me at UVU yesterday. I’m sorry for all of this.” The message, sent at approximately 7:57 p.m. local time, came roughly two hours before Robinson turned himself in to law enforcement.
The Discord group reportedly included around 30 members, who had been reacting in real time to news of the shooting the day prior. Several users expressed shock and sadness over Kirk’s shooting, with comments like “Charlie Kirk got shot” and “Bro didn’t deserve to go out like that, sad.”
Robinson followed up with another message indicating he planned to surrender through a sheriff friend and expressing gratitude to the group: “Thanks for all the good times and laughs. You’ve all been so amazing. Thank you for everything.”
Authorities have not yet confirmed the authenticity of the Discord messages but are examining Robinson’s online activity as part of the ongoing investigation.
The case continues to develop as law enforcement works to verify the timeline, motive, and Robinson’s role in the tragic shooting. Updates are expected as officials review digital evidence and prepare charges related to the incident at Utah Valley University.
