Bronx Woman Stabbed to Death in Moped Ambush as Husband Pulled Over
A 30-year-old Bronx woman, Anthonella Contreras Linarez, was tragically stabbed to death in a shocking moped ambush Wednesday night, authorities said. The attack occurred around 8:10 p.m. near Park Drive and City Island Road as the couple had pulled over while on their way to dine with a friend on City Island.
According to law enforcement sources, the couple stopped because the husband needed to relieve himself. While he was outside the vehicle, two moped-riding individuals approached and demanded money from Contreras Linarez. When she refused, the man riding on the back of the moped stabbed her multiple times in the face, neck, and body.
Her husband, who was also slashed on his right arm during the attack, rushed back to the car and drove the couple to Montefiore Hospital in New Rochelle. Despite medical efforts, Contreras Linarez succumbed to her injuries. Her husband was listed in stable condition and has since been released from the hospital.
Police reported that the suspects fled the scene and remain at large. Authorities are continuing their investigation, reviewing surveillance footage, and seeking any witnesses who may have seen the moped or the attackers.
The incident has sent shockwaves through the Bronx community, highlighting concerns about random violent crimes and moped-related attacks. Residents are urged to stay vigilant and report suspicious activity. Police are asking anyone with information about the suspects to contact local law enforcement immediately as the search for the perpetrators continues.
