Former Sparta Friends and Neighbors Member Gloria Jichetti Dies

The Sparta Friends and Neighbors community is mourning the loss of longtime member Gloria Jichetti, who passed away Monday after a period in hospice care.

Jichetti, originally from New York, became a familiar face and devoted participant in Sparta’s civic and social life. She was an active member of the club and its bowling league, remembered for her friendly spirit and willingness to pitch in wherever needed.

“Though she was from New York, Gloria was truly a Spartan at heart,” said Mary Ann Ryan, who announced Jichetti’s passing to fellow members. “She loved doing things with the club and the bowling league. We will all miss her very much.”

Services for Jichetti will be held in New York State. Friends and former club members are encouraged to honor her memory by recalling her generosity, sense of humor and enthusiasm for community life.

Her passing leaves a void for those who knew her through Sparta Friends and Neighbors and beyond. Many recall her warmth and commitment to making the club welcoming to everyone.

As Ryan put it, “Miss you, Miss Gloria.”
