NEW IBERIA, La. — The Iberia Parish Coroner’s Office has confirmed the identity of the young man killed in a fatal shooting on Mississippi Street earlier this week. The victim has been identified as 23-year-old Kelsey Alexander Jr., a resident of New Iberia.

Authorities said officers were dispatched to the 400 block of Mississippi Street following reports of gunfire. When they arrived, Alexander was found suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Despite efforts from first responders, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
