With Heavy Hearts, We Announce the Passing of Dr. Kimberly Nix
It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of Dr. Kimberly Nix, a Canadian physician who bravely chronicled her journey with metastatic sarcoma on Instagram and TikTok. She passed away three years after her diagnosis.
Dr. Nix was only 28 years old when she received the devastating news, at a time when she was in the final year of her medical residency. Despite her illness, she used her platform to educate, inspire, and connect with others, offering honesty, vulnerability, and courage that resonated with thousands around the world.
Her final video, shared on May 8, was a nine-minute reflection in which she prepared for the day while speaking candidly about her life. She expressed her deep love for her husband and immense gratitude for the support she received throughout her journey. She encouraged donations to the Sarcoma Alliance, reminding her followers that her only sorrow was not being able to grow old alongside her husband.
“I had a beautiful life,” she said. “I’m so proud of it.”
Dr. Kimberly Nix will be remembered not only as a gifted doctor but also as an advocate, a source of light, and an inspiration to all who followed her story. May her memory live on through the lives she touched and the hope she gave to so many.
