1 Dead, 4 Others Injured in Rocky Mount Shooting, Police Say

A violent shooting in Rocky Mount early Sunday morning has left one person dead and four others wounded, police confirmed.

The incident happened around 6 a.m. in the 2100 block of Benvenue Road. Officers with the Rocky Mount Police Department arrived to find multiple victims suffering from gunshot wounds. In total, five people were shot.

One victim succumbed to their injuries. The other four were transported to a nearby medical facility for treatment. Their current conditions remain unknown as of Sunday afternoon.

Authorities have not released the names or ages of the victims, nor have they identified any suspects. Investigators are still piecing together what led up to the gunfire.

Neighbors reported being startled by the early morning chaos. Some described hearing a rapid series of shots, followed by screams and people rushing for cover.

The Rocky Mount Police Department is urging anyone with knowledge of the incident to come forward, stressing that community cooperation will be vital in bringing those responsible to justice.

“This is a senseless act of violence that has impacted multiple families,” police said in a statement. “We are asking anyone who may have seen or heard something to please contact us immediately.”
