One Dead, Several Injured in Shooting at New Hampshire Wedding

A wedding at Sky Meadow Country Club in Nashua, New Hampshire, descended into chaos Saturday night when a gunman opened fire, killing one person and injuring several others, authorities said.

The shooting erupted around 7:30 p.m. inside the country club’s dining room, where terrified guests scrambled for safety as shots rang out. Witnesses said a quick-thinking guest struck the gunman with a chair, knocking him to the ground and forcing him to drop his weapon. The man fled briefly through the kitchen before being apprehended by police.

Attorney General John Formella and Nashua Police Chief Kevin Rourke confirmed that one man was killed. Several others were hurt during the mayhem, though officials did not clarify how many sustained gunshot wounds. About six additional guests suffered non-gunshot injuries while fleeing, according to WMUR 9.

Early reports suggested multiple shooters, prompting shelter-in-place orders in nearby towns. However, police later confirmed surveillance footage showed only one suspect, who is now in custody. Officials emphasized there is no ongoing threat to the public.

The attack shocked guests, many of whom described the scene as “surreal” and “terrifying.” “Pop, pop, pop, and then people just screamed, ‘Gun, run!’” recalled Sophie Flabouris, who attended the wedding.

By late evening, police established a reunification center at a nearby Sheraton hotel, where buses carried shaken guests from the venue.

Political leaders including Rep. Maggie Goodlander and Sen. Jeanne Shaheen condemned the violence and offered condolences to the victims’ families.

The investigation remains active.
