Patient in Critical Condition After Five-Vehicle Crash on I-15 in Lindon, Utah

Lindon, UT — September 17, 2025 — A multi-vehicle crash on I-15 northbound in Lindon left one person in critical condition and another in serious condition, according to the Utah Highway Patrol (UHP).

The incident began just after 9:00 a.m. Wednesday when a dump truck traveling northbound lost its left rear tire, which bounced over the highway wall and struck two vehicles, causing minor injuries.

After the initial crash was cleared, the dump truck remained on the northbound side, slowing traffic for investigators. During this slowdown, a passenger car stopped and was rear-ended by a semi-truck, resulting in a chain-reaction collision that involved five vehicles in total.

Lt. Cameron Roden of UHP confirmed that one patient was transported to a local hospital in critical condition, while another sustained serious injuries. The identities of the injured have not been released.

The crash caused a significant traffic disruption, with northbound lanes blocked near mile post 273. Officials have not provided an estimated time for reopening the lanes.

Authorities are continuing to investigate the cause of the crash, including the circumstances leading to the dump truck tire detachment and the subsequent chain-reaction collision. Drivers are urged to avoid the area and follow detours where possible.

This incident highlights the dangers of sudden traffic slowdowns and the risks posed by mechanical failures on highways. UHP advises motorists to maintain a safe distance and remain alert, especially during congestion or unexpected traffic stops.
