Carnival Cruise Passenger Reported Missing After Leaving Ship in Caribbean

Bonaire – Authorities in the Caribbean are investigating after a U.S. passenger vanished from a Carnival cruise ship during a stop in Bonaire, reportedly telling crew members she “did not want to be found.”

Jessica Collins, 47, had been traveling aboard the Carnival Horizon, which departed Miami on September 13 for an eight-day Southern Caribbean voyage. According to officials, Collins disembarked the ship in Bonaire on September 17, carrying a gray backpack and wearing a Hawaiian shirt and cargo shorts. Surveillance footage later confirmed her departure.

Carnival Cruise Line said Collins had left a cash tip and thank-you note for her stateroom attendant before leaving the vessel with her belongings. When she did not return, the ship’s Care Team attempted to contact her. In response, Collins reportedly sent a message to the crew stating that she was safe and did not wish to be contacted or located.

Bonaire authorities launched an investigation in coordination with Carnival. Officials noted that Collins retained her identification but left behind additional luggage, suggesting she made a deliberate choice to disembark permanently.

In a statement, Carnival emphasized that they are cooperating with local investigators but underscored that Collins “appears to have taken deliberate action to be alone and on her own.”

The Carnival Horizon has since returned to Miami and departed again for a new Western Caribbean cruise.

Authorities have not announced any further developments in the case, but the investigation remains ongoing.
