17-Year-Old Tampa Teen Dies After Electric Dirt Bike Crash in Spring Hill
A 17-year-old boy from Tampa has died after a crash involving an electric dirt bike in Spring Hill on Tuesday afternoon. According to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), the teen was riding a Talaria electric dirt bike northbound on Barclay Avenue around 3:27 p.m. when he failed to stop in time and collided with the back of a GMC Acadia stopped in traffic near Suncoast Villa Way.
Emergency crews responded quickly and transported the teen to a nearby hospital with critical injuries. Despite lifesaving efforts, he tragically passed away from his injuries on Wednesday, September 10.
Authorities said the driver of the GMC, a 56-year-old woman from Spring Hill, was unharmed in the crash.
The FHP continues to investigate the incident. Officials are urging drivers and riders to use extra caution on busy roads and to always observe traffic signals to prevent such tragedies.
