Remembering the Life of Wanda Ragsdale Cockrell (1939–2025)

The Coleman community is mourning the passing of Wanda Ragsdale Cockrell, who went home to be with the Lord on September 12, 2025, at Holiday Hill Nursing Home. She was 85 years old.

Born on November 26, 1939, in Bluff Dale, Texas, Wanda lived a life defined by faith, family, and kindness. Raised in Erath County, she carried with her a gentle spirit and a giving heart. Those who knew Wanda will fondly remember her thoughtful tradition of sending handwritten cards for every occasion—births, weddings, funerals, or simply to let someone know they were in her prayers. These simple yet heartfelt gestures touched countless lives and left an enduring mark.

A devoted wife, mother, and homemaker, Wanda found her greatest joy in her family and church. She was a steadfast member of the Baptist faith, attending Harmony Baptist Church in Fisk and later First Baptist Church in Coleman. At Coleman First Baptist, she was active in The Unity Sunday School class and lived out her faith daily with warmth and sincerity.

Wanda is survived by her brothers Kenneth, David, and Michael Dobbs, and remembered by her many friends and church family. She now reunites in heaven with her parents, her husbands Sherrill Ragsdale and Jack Wayne Cockrell, her son Brett Lee Ragsdale, and her brother Dickie Dobbs.

Services will be held on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, at Stevens Funeral Home in Coleman. Memorials may be made to the Coleman Senior Center or First Baptist Church.

Her legacy of love, laughter, and faith will live on in all who knew her.
