26-Year-Old Jailene Cepeda Fatally Shot in Humboldt Park
Chicago, IL — September 13, 2025 — A woman has been identified as the victim of a fatal shooting early Saturday morning in the Humboldt Park neighborhood on Chicago’s West Side.
The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed the victim as 26-year-old Jailene Cepeda.
Chicago police said officers responded around 2:45 a.m. to the 1700 block of North Kimball Avenue, near the Logan Square area, following reports of gunfire. When officers arrived, they found Cepeda unresponsive with a gunshot wound to the head.
She was transported to Mt. Sinai Hospital, where she was pronounced dead shortly afterward.
As of now, no arrests have been made. Area Five detectives have opened an investigation and are actively seeking information to determine what led to the deadly shooting. Police have not disclosed a possible motive.
Authorities are urging anyone with knowledge of the incident to contact the Chicago Police Department or submit an anonymous tip through the department’s tip line.
This investigation remains ongoing.
