In Loving Memory of Richard H. Dye
Grove City, PA / Louisville, KY
Richard H. Dye, after a long, full, and faithful life of service to Jesus, passed peacefully into His arms on September 14, 2025.
Born in Grove City, Pennsylvania, to Paul and Nina Dye, Richard spent his childhood in Scottdale, where summers at his grandparents’ cabin in French Crick became cherished memories. He was baptized into Christ at Scottdale Christian Church, later ordained into Christian ministry, and went on to graduate from Atlanta Christian College (now Point University). He also studied at Johnson University and Eastern Christian College, where he met Clara Fischer in the fall of 1953. They married on August 1, 1954, sharing 71 years of life and loving ministry together.
Richard faithfully served churches in East Orange and Newark, NJ; Temple, GA; Wilkes-Barre, PA; and for his final 19 years, served as chaplain of the Christian Care Home in Ferguson, Missouri.
Richard loved his family deeply, was playful with his children and grandchildren, and continually prayed for them. He also had a passion for cars, his first being a 1937 Ford V8 purchased for $150. Above all, Richard loved Jesus and people, a love that defined his life and ministry.
He is survived by his beloved wife Clara; siblings Don (Judy), Martha, and sister-in-law Ruth; children Rick (Jane), Laurie (Jeff), Bob (Kim), Carole (John), and Jeff (Kim); 12 grandchildren (with one, Wesley, preceding him in infancy); and 14 great-grandchildren, with one on the way.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, September 16, from 3:00–6:30 p.m. at Westport Road Church of Christ, with a memorial service Wednesday, September 17, at 12:30 p.m. at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to ministries dedicated to spreading the gospel of Jesus.
