17-Year-Old Ian Williams Fatally Shot in Morgan Park; Investigation Underway

CHICAGO, Ill. — A 17-year-old boy, identified as Ian Williams, was fatally shot Saturday night, September 13, 2025, in the Morgan Park neighborhood on Chicago’s South Side.

According to the Chicago Police Department (CPD), Williams was standing on the sidewalk in the 11300-block of South Carpenter Street around 7:15 p.m. when someone inside a blue sedan fired shots, striking him in the chest. He was transported in critical condition to Christ Hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly thereafter.

The suspect’s vehicle fled northbound on Carpenter Street. CPD has confirmed that one individual is in custody, and Area Two detectives are actively investigating the incident. However, police have not released further details about the suspect or the circumstances leading up to the shooting.

This tragic event adds to a concerning pattern of gun violence in the Morgan Park area, which has experienced several shootings in recent months. Community leaders and residents are calling for increased safety measures and greater police presence to address the rising violence.

The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office has confirmed Williams’ identity. Authorities are urging anyone with information about the shooting to contact the Chicago Police Department.
