Francis B. “Frank” Hood III, Glenside Native and Business Owner, Dies at 54

GLENSIDE, Pa. — Mr. Francis B. “Frank” Hood III, a lifelong Glenside resident, Bishop McDevitt High School graduate, and founder of Hood Masonry & Restoration in Abington Township, passed away at his home on Saturday, September 13, 2025. He was 54.

Born and raised in Glenside, Mr. Hood graduated from Bishop McDevitt in 1989 before earning a degree from West Chester University. Early in his career, he worked at O’Neill’s Food Market, but his entrepreneurial drive led him to establish his own masonry and restoration business, where he built a reputation for craftsmanship and reliability. In later years, while facing health challenges, he worked as a warehouse manager at Stevenson Seeley, a role that supported him through his final chapter.

Mr. Hood was remembered by family and friends for his humor, warmth, and generosity. “If you knew Frank, you understood his big beard hid an even bigger heart,” his obituary read. Known for his wit and loyalty, he was a man who found joy in life’s simple pleasures—family, friends, and good times.

A devoted father of three, he leaves behind not only his children but also a legacy of laughter, love, and cherished memories.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Sunday, September 21, from 5–8 p.m. at William R. May Funeral Home, 354 N. Easton Rd., Glenside. A Funeral Mass will be held Monday, September 22 at 12 p.m. at Queen of Peace Church, Ardsley, with visitation beginning at 10 a.m. Interment will be private.
