Skeletal Remains Identified as Missing Man Jamey Holyoak in San Juan County
SAN JUAN COUNTY, Utah – Skeletal remains discovered last week in San Juan County have been positively identified as those of Jamey Eugene Holyoak, a 47-year-old man who went missing in April 2022. The remains were found on Thursday, September 11, and confirmed as human by the Medical Examiner’s office using dental records.
Holyoak was last seen on April 15, 2022, in La Sal, walking down La Sal Road, according to his sister, Kathy Randall. At the time, Holyoak was known to walk or ride his bike along the area where he lived, near Meadow Lane, where his hat had previously been discovered. Holyoak’s family had expressed concern over his safety, noting he struggled with substance use in the years before his disappearance.
The San Juan County Sheriff’s Office has notified Holyoak’s next of kin and extended condolences to the family. Authorities describe the case as an ongoing investigation and have not released additional details about the circumstances surrounding his death.
Holyoak’s disappearance had drawn attention in 2022, with family members raising concerns about the safety of the area where he lived and the possibility of foul play. His passing marks a tragic conclusion to a long period of uncertainty for his loved ones, who remember him as a member of their family whose absence was deeply felt.
