McCAYSVILLE, Ga. — A north Georgia police officer is in critical condition after being shot in the line of duty late Friday night.

The officer, Captain Brantley Worley of the McCaysville Police Department, was struck in the throat and airlifted to a Chattanooga hospital. According to officials, he has a broken neck, brain bleeding, and fluid in his lungs.

The suspect, 26-year-old Timothy Craig Ramsey, was arrested Saturday afternoon in a wooded area near Bethel Church Road following a tip from the public. Authorities say he was taken into custody without incident.

Ramsey faces charges of aggravated assault with intent to murder a police officer. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) had issued a Blue Alert, notifying residents in Fannin, Gilmer, and Union counties.

Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp also issued a statement, urging Georgians to support the officer and law enforcement officers who “face this kind of danger on a regular basis to protect their communities.”

RIP Baby Lane: Remembering Orlando Anderson’s Complicated Legacy

News of Baby Lane’s (Orlando Anderson) passing has reignited memories of one of hip-hop’s most infamous chapters. A known South Side Compton Crips affiliate, Anderson’s name remains forever linked to the 1996 Las Vegas altercation with Tupac Shakur—a moment many believe set off events leading to the rapper’s tragic death. Nearly three decades later, his reputation still divides fans and communities.

Social media reactions show a clear split in public sentiment. Anthony Williams wrote, “I’d rather say R.I.P to Charlie Kirk than to this,” while Ricco Debarge bluntly said, “Mannn fuc baby lane.” Others, however, offered respect and condolences. Hank Johnson shared, “Man SSIP BG LANE TRULY MISS LOVE1,” and Monique Hall posted, “Baby Lane SS.I.P.” Brenda Roberts added simply, “RIP Orlando Anderson,” honoring his memory without controversy.

Whether viewed as a villain or a victim of circumstance, Baby Lane’s story highlights the lasting scars left by gang rivalries, loyalty, and unresolved pain in hip-hop culture. His death is another reminder of how deeply those turbulent years continue to shape today’s conversations about justice, forgiveness, and legacy within the rap community.

Dallas Motel Employee Charged With Capital Murder After Manager Beheaded

Dallas police have arrested a Cuban national accused of decapitating his supervisor during a violent attack at a motel on the city’s northwest side. Authorities say Yordanis Cobos-Martinez, 37, is charged with capital murder in the death of Chandra Nagamallaiah, 50, the manager of the Downtown Suites Motel.

Investigators report that the attack happened after an argument over work duties escalated. Witnesses said Cobos-Martinez retrieved a machete and struck Nagamallaiah repeatedly as he tried to escape toward the motel office. The victim’s wife and son were nearby and attempted to intervene.

According to police, Cobos-Martinez was arrested at the scene still holding the weapon and covered in blood. He is being held without bond in Dallas County Jail.

Federal immigration officials confirmed Cobos-Martinez had previously been in ICE custody but was released earlier this year after Cuba refused to accept his deportation. ICE has now lodged a new detainer against him.

Detectives are reviewing surveillance footage and interviewing witnesses to build their case. The Dallas County Medical Examiner’s Office is conducting an autopsy.

The attack has drawn national attention due to its brutality and to questions about the suspect’s immigration status. Officials say they are also examining the suspect’s criminal history in other states, including an outstanding probation violation warrant from California.

Cobos-Martinez faces life in prison or the death penalty if convicted of capital murder under Texas law.
