BREAKING: Mugshot of Charlie Kirk suspected assassin Tyler Robinson released

OREM, Utah — Authorities have announced the arrest of 22-year-old Tyler Robinson in connection with the assassination of conservative activist and Turning Point USA co-founder Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University on Wednesday.

Law enforcement officials confirmed that Robinson was taken into custody late Thursday night near St. George, Utah, nearly 250 miles from the UVU campus where the fatal shooting occurred. According to investigators, Robinson allegedly admitted involvement to his father, who promptly alerted authorities, secured his son, and waited until officers arrived to make the arrest around 11:00 p.m.

During a late-night press conference, officials confirmed that Robinson will be charged with capital offenses. If convicted, he could face the death penalty.

Investigators also recovered what they believe to be the murder weapon: a Mauser .30-06 caliber bolt-action rifle. The firearm was found in a wooded area near the UVU campus, wrapped in a towel. Forensic teams reported that the chamber contained a spent cartridge, with three additional live rounds still in the magazine. In a striking detail, investigators said the cartridges were etched with phrases referencing transgender and antifascist ideology.

The weapon and ammunition are currently in FBI custody for DNA and fingerprint testing, while the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) is conducting additional examinations.

Officials have not yet disclosed a motive but emphasized that the investigation remains active as law enforcement continues to gather evidence in the high-profile case.

Queens Parolee Charged With Murder, Arson in Couple’s Deaths

BELLEROSE, Queens — A parolee with a violent past has been charged in the brutal slaying of a Queens couple whose home was set on fire earlier this week, police announced Thursday.

Jamel McGriff, 42, faces multiple counts of murder, robbery, burglary, arson, kidnapping, identity theft, and criminal possession of stolen property, according to the NYPD.

McGriff was arrested Wednesday evening near Times Square after investigators tracked him across Manhattan. Police said he had been using the victims’ credit cards, including at a Union Square movie theater just hours before his capture. Officers arrested him without incident on West 44th Street.

Authorities allege McGriff approached homes in the neighborhood Monday morning, asking for help by claiming his phone had died. After being turned away at one residence, he was allowed into the backyard of Frank and [Name] Olton’s home. Surveillance footage shows him entering the rear door around 10:18 a.m. and leaving just after 3 p.m.

Responding to a fire later that day, police discovered the couple dead inside. Frank Olton was found bound and stabbed in the basement, while his wife’s body was discovered burned beyond recognition.

As he was led from the 107th Precinct Thursday, McGriff shouted that the victims had abused him as a child, a claim investigators have not substantiated.

McGriff, who has prior convictions for violent robberies and sexual assault, is also wanted in connection with a string of summer robberies in Manhattan.

Rylan Schadegg, Beloved Athlete and Mentor, Dies While Running in the Mountains

It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of Rylan Schadegg, who died on Sunday evening while doing something he loved deeply — running in the mountains. For those who knew him, the trails were where he felt most alive, charging upward with determination and flying back down with unmatched joy.

Rylan often lived by the words “live wild, die free,” and he embodied that spirit wholeheartedly. Yet beyond his athletic pursuits, he was a man defined by his faith in Jesus Christ. His relationship with God guided the way he lived, loved, trained, and encouraged those around him. Whether through conversations, social media, or quiet acts of kindness, Rylan consistently pointed others toward Christ.

He was a devoted son, a cherished brother, a loyal friend, and a mentor to many. Though gentle in presence, his influence was powerful. His humility, determination, and compassion left lasting marks on everyone privileged to know him. He had a rare ability to push his own limits while lifting up those beside him.

Our OCR family is heartbroken by this loss. Rylan was more than a competitor; he was an inspiration — reminding us why we love this sport and this community. To his family, friends, and all who trained or raced alongside him, our hearts are with you.

Though his life was far too short, it was filled with meaning, faith, and love. May we honor Rylan’s legacy by living with purpose, showing kindness, and pursuing our passions with the same joy he carried.
