FBI Recovers Rifle Used in Charlie Kirk Assassination, Investigating Possible Motive

OREM, Utah — Federal authorities say they have recovered the weapon believed to have been used in the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University.

According to investigators, the rifle was located in a wooded area near the campus, consistent with the path believed to have been taken by the suspect while fleeing the scene. The firearm has been identified as a high-powered, imported Mauser .30-06 caliber bolt-action rifle.

Surveillance footage reportedly shows the shooter positioned on the rooftop of a building overlooking the student courtyard, where Kirk was speaking at the time. A single round was fired before the suspect leapt from the rooftop and escaped on foot into a nearby neighborhood. Witnesses described the individual as appearing to be of college age.

Authorities said the rifle was discovered wrapped in a towel. A spent cartridge remained in the chamber, while three live rounds were still in the magazine. Investigators noted that the cartridges bore engraved wording referencing transgender and anti-fascist ideology. These details are now part of the ongoing effort to establish a possible motive behind the shooting.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) has initiated an emergency trace of the weapon, and leads are being pursued through the agency’s Salt Lake City field division. Both the rifle and ammunition have been transferred to the FBI Laboratory for DNA and fingerprint analysis.

The suspect remains at large as the investigation continues.

According to HEMSI spokesperson Don Webster, the incident occurred around 7:07 a.m. and involved at least one person who became trapped inside a vehicle. Deputies with the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office, along with EMS personnel and local volunteer firefighters, were among the first on the scene to provide aid and manage the situation.

Webster confirmed that one individual sustained injuries and was transported by HEMSI ambulance to Huntsville Hospital Trauma Services for treatment. The injuries were described as non-life-threatening, though the patient remains under medical evaluation.

Huntsville Fire & Rescue and Decatur-Morgan ambulances were also dispatched to assist in stabilizing the crash site and supporting patient care. Traffic was slowed temporarily in the area as crews worked to clear the roadway and ensure safe passage for morning commuters.

Authorities have not released additional details about the cause of the crash or whether more vehicles were involved. The investigation is ongoing, and updates are expected as officials review the circumstances surrounding the collision.

Investigators believe Kala may be traveling in a light gray 2024 Hyundai Tucson with Illinois license plate FP-268719.

Missing Teen Alert – Detroit, Michigan

DETROIT, Mich. — Authorities are asking for the public’s assistance in locating 15-year-old Natalie Alexander, who has been reported missing from the 20100 block of Packard in Detroit. Police say Natalie left her residence without permission and has not returned home since September 10, 2025.

Natalie is described as a Black female, standing 5’6” tall and weighing approximately 112 pounds. She has black hair styled in braids and brown eyes. At the time she was last seen, she was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, gray jeans, and red and black Jordan shoes.

The Detroit Police Department’s 11th Precinct is leading the investigation. Officials have emphasized that every missing child is considered at risk until they are safely located, and they are urging community members to remain vigilant.

One Fatality Reported in Franklin County Two-Vehicle Crash

FRANKLIN COUNTY, Ind. — The Franklin County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a fatal crash that occurred Wednesday evening, Sept. 10, at the intersection of State Road 1 and Rhein Road.

According to investigators, the crash happened at approximately 5:17 p.m. and involved a 2010 Ford Fusion and a 2021 Toyota Tacoma. Preliminary findings indicate that the Ford Fusion was entering the intersection from Rhein Road when it was struck on the driver’s side by the southbound Toyota Tacoma traveling along State Road 1.

The driver of the Ford Fusion, 81-year-old Rosa Banks of Laurel, Indiana, was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger in her vehicle, 33-year-old Robbie Dale Rae, suffered injuries and received treatment from emergency personnel on site.

The driver of the Toyota Tacoma, 32-year-old David Tyler Hokey, was not reported to be injured.

Authorities say alcohol and drugs are not suspected to be factors in the crash. The investigation is being led by Sgt. Adam Henson of the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department.

Several agencies assisted at the scene, including Letts EMS, the Brookville Fire Department, and the Franklin County Coroner’s Office.

Upper Marlboro Homicide: Man Found Shot in Woods, Investigation Underway

PRINCE GEORGE’S COUNTY, Md. — A homicide investigation is underway in Upper Marlboro after a man was found shot to death Wednesday morning in a wooded area of the Stonegate at Marlton neighborhood.

Residents reported hearing multiple gunshots around midnight Tuesday, September 9, but an initial search by Prince George’s County Police did not reveal a victim. The grim discovery was made hours later, around 8 a.m., when a passerby found the man’s body near Old Colony Drive and Grandhaven Avenue.

Police confirmed the victim is an adult male who suffered at least one gunshot wound. His identity has not been released, and investigators have not yet determined how the body ended up in the woods — whether the victim fled after being shot or was left there.

Neighbors say the violence shook the quiet residential area. “I heard what sounded like five gunshots around midnight,” said resident Sabrina Gross. Another resident, Lorraine Yuriar, told reporters she also heard “four or five” shots and immediately called 911.

West Allis Woman Charged in Crash That Killed Two Marquette Students

MILWAUKEE — A West Allis woman is facing serious charges after a devastating crash that claimed the lives of two Marquette University students on Friday, September 5, near 27th Street and St. Paul Avenue.

Court records show 41-year-old Amandria Brunner has been charged with two counts of homicide by intoxicated use of a motor vehicle. She appeared in court Wednesday, where her bond was set at $75,000.

The victims, Scott Michaud and Noah Snyder, were both members of Marquette’s lacrosse team. They were seated in the back of a Jeep involved in the collision and tragically died at the scene from blunt force injuries. Four others, including teammates, were injured but are expected to recover.

According to a criminal complaint, Brunner accelerated into the intersection after waiting in the left turn lane. Data later revealed she did not brake before impact. Investigators said her blood alcohol content was 0.133, well above the legal limit. An open can of beer and marijuana paraphernalia were also found in her vehicle.

Brunner has a prior conviction for operating while intoxicated from 2003.
