Remembering Hector Brual: A Life of Service, Friendship, and Quiet Strength

It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of Hector Brual, who died this afternoon after several months of illness. True to his private nature, Hector kept his struggle quiet, spending his final moments surrounded by family in Chicago, including his son Phil.

Hector’s influence reached far beyond his immediate circle. During his time at Gallaudet University, he served as Vice President alongside then-SBG President Tim, playing a vital behind-the-scenes role during the Deaf President Now movement. Known for his generosity and dedication, he was a steady force in every project and friendship he undertook.

In later years, Hector became part of the “Lucky Seven,” a close group of friends who shared countless adventures and supported one another through life’s ups and downs. The group mourned the loss of member Daniel Smith last fall, and now they grieve Hector’s passing, finding comfort in the bonds they built.

Hector’s legacy is one of loyalty, humility, and kindness. Whether visiting friends, hosting them in the Philippines, or standing by their side during pivotal moments, he gave selflessly. Those who knew him remember his generosity, his humor, and his unwavering support.

Though he preferred to stay out of the spotlight, Hector Brual’s impact was profound. His life reminds us that real leadership and friendship often happen quietly—one act of service at a time. He will be deeply missed, but his spirit of devotion and friendship will continue to guide those he touched.

OREM, Utah — Erika Kirk has spoken publicly for the first time since the shocking assassination of her husband, conservative activist and Turning Point USA co-founder Charlie Kirk, at Utah Valley University.

In a heartfelt statement, Erika condemned those responsible for her husband’s death, saying, “The evildoers responsible for my husband’s assassination have no idea what they have done. They killed Charlie because he preached a message of patriotism, faith, and God’s merciful love.”

She continued, emphasizing the enduring power of her husband’s mission: “If you thought that my husband’s mission was powerful before, you have no idea. You have no idea what you just have unleashed across this entire country and this world.”

Erika reflected on the personal loss she feels, calling Charlie’s sacrifice the ultimate demonstration of love. “My husband laid down his life for me, for our nation, for our children. He showed the ultimate and true covenantal love. I will never ever have the words to describe the loss that I feel in my heart. JACKSON, Miss. — Jackson police say a mother and five teenagers have been arrested following a series of burglaries and auto thefts that stretched across several weeks.

According to Detective Tommie Brown with the Jackson Police Department (JPD), the arrests were made on September 12, 2025. The suspects include a 14-year-old, three 15-year-olds, and a 16-year-old, all of whom now face three counts of business burglary and five counts of auto theft.

Investigators allege that three of the teens were responsible for breaking into the Tobacco and Vape Shop in the 4800 block of Highway 18 on three separate occasions — August 6, 18, and 24. Authorities also linked the group to the theft of five vehicles between August and September 10, 2025.

Police say the teens were not acting alone. Chasity Davis, 40, the mother of one of the teenagers, was also taken into custody. She is charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor after investigators determined she had knowledge of her son’s involvement in the crimes.

ICE Officer Shoots and Kills Suspect After Being Dragged by Car in Chicago Suburb

Franklin Park, IL — A U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officer fatally shot a suspect Friday morning after the individual allegedly drove his car into officers and dragged one during an attempted arrest in Franklin Park, a suburb west of Chicago.

According to the Department of Homeland Security, the officer was attempting to arrest Silverio Villegas-Gonzalez, an undocumented immigrant with a history of reckless driving. When Villegas-Gonzalez resisted arrest and drove his vehicle toward the officers, one officer was struck and dragged a significant distance. Fearing for his life, the officer discharged his firearm, striking Villegas-Gonzalez. Both the officer and the suspect were transported to a local hospital; Villegas-Gonzalez was pronounced dead, and the officer is in stable condition.

This incident occurred amid heightened federal immigration enforcement actions under “Operation Midway Blitz,” an initiative targeting sanctuary policies in Chicago and Illinois. The operation has drawn criticism from local officials and advocacy groups, who express concern over increased federal presence and its impact on immigrant communities.

The Department of Homeland Security emphasized that the officer acted in accordance with training and used appropriate force to protect public safety. Investigations into the incident are ongoing.

Texas Mother Arrested in 1998 Cold Case of Infant Found Dead in Field

LONGVIEW, Texas — After nearly three decades, a Texas cold case has come to a heartbreaking breakthrough. Authorities announced that 47-year-old Misty Mitchell has been arrested and charged with capital murder in connection with the death of her newborn baby in 1998.

On June 1998, officers with the Longview Police Department discovered the remains of an infant inside a trash bag near West Harrison and Jordan Valley roads. Investigators determined the baby had been born healthy but died from fatal injuries consistent with a beating. The death was ruled a homicide, but at the time, police were unable to identify the victim or her parents, and the case went cold.

For 27 years, the case haunted detectives and the Longview community, who sought answers about the baby’s identity and what had happened.

According to investigators, recent advancements in genetic profile technology allowed officials to revisit the evidence and successfully identify the child’s mother as Misty Mitchell. Detectives confirmed Mitchell as the prime suspect, leading to her arrest on September 9, 2025.

She has been booked into the Gregg County Jail, where she is being held on a $750,000 bond.

The shocking arrest has reignited emotions for many in the Longview community, who remember the 1998 case as one of the area’s most tragic unsolved crimes. Police say the investigation is ongoing, and prosecutors plan to pursue capital charges.

Lawrence Rayburn Mitchell Found Guilty of Manslaughter in 2022 Shooting Death of Chasada Frost

WALKER COUNTY, Ala. — Nearly three years after a tragic shooting rocked the Argo community, justice has taken a new turn. Yesterday, Lawrence “Rayburn” Mitchell was found guilty of manslaughter in the death of 41-year-old Chasada Nicole Frost.

The case dates back to April 15, 2022, when Frost was fatally shot at a home along Highway 78 in Walker County. At the time, Mitchell, then 69, was arrested and charged with murder and third-degree domestic violence. According to the Walker County Sheriff’s Office, he was taken into custody the following day and held without bond at the Walker County Jail.

The April 2022 shooting shocked the community, leaving Frost’s family and friends devastated. For years, they have sought justice for the loss of their loved one, while the case moved slowly through the legal system.

On Thursday, a jury delivered its verdict, finding Mitchell guilty of manslaughter rather than the original murder charge. While no ruling can erase the pain of losing Chasada, the decision marks a significant chapter in the long fight for accountability.

Loved ones of Frost are now left to process the outcome. Many hope this verdict brings a measure of peace, even as grief remains heavy. Mitchell will face sentencing in the coming weeks, where the court will determine his punishment.

Our thoughts remain with Chasada Nicole Frost’s family as they continue to heal and honor her memory.
